The road is calling, answer the damn phone!

Last week we had a great send off with all of our friends at Crank Arm Brewery. It was awesome seeing everyone one last time before we hit the road; thanks to all who came out!

The past week has been crazy getting everything moved out of our house to rent. It’s amazing how much stuff you can accumulate in 11 years of being in the same place. Yesterday we spent the morning packing up the RV for the trip, and I was feeling pretty good about where we were in the move until my mother-in-law came over and said,

“Wow, you have a lot of stuff, I don’t know how you are going to get out of here this week”

Thanks for the vote of confidence lady! 😉 We’re getting there… we’re getting there.

Towards the end of the day, we packed up the cats and drove to Fairfax. My cat of 19 years will be staying with my parents for the duration of the trip. We have mixed feelings about leaving her since she is starting to show her age and has been dealing with some health issues lately, but she is in good hands. We also had to leave our outdoor cat, Poofy. Luckily, our next door neighbor will take care of her while we are gone. Poofy has already easily made the transition from our deck to hers to be fed.

Tomorrow I’ll  head back to Raleigh to finish moving the last of our stuff out, and to do two last shows over the weekend. Then after another week in Fairfax, we will OFFICIALLY hit the road! We have been saying we are leaving town for so long, it will be nice to finally be gone. I’m tired of people seeing me and saying,

“You are still here? I thought you already left?”

Believe me, I left in my mind a long time ago. Just waiting for my body to catch up. The road is calling, but unfortunately we’ll have to let it go to voicemail for another week.
